I suspect this intern is now an ex-intern

An intern from the National Transport Safety Board released fake racist names to a television station in San Francisco, who promptly telecast them.  Complaints flooded in from the audience, who were clearly smarter than the staff working at the station.  Oh dear..

What would prompt an intern to make jokes like this?  "Wow.. this plane crash news is a bit heavy.. time to lighten things up a bit with a bit of racism...".

The NTSB apologized for the inaccurate and offensive names and said "Earlier today, in response to an inquiry from a media outlet, a summer intern acted outside the scope of his authority when he erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew on the aircraft".

Outside the scope of his authority?  Erroneously?  That's a big double helping of 'no shi# Sherlock' right there..
